Victoria Citizens Against Rodeo Events (VCARE) was formed in the Spring of 2013. The previous year a small number of concerned members of the public attended the Luxton Pro Rodeo and demonstrated against the inhumane treatment of animals during some events. In 2013 it was decided that we needed to organize and create a group in order to better coordinate and get our voice heard.
Over the last year the group has been using social media to connect with the many like-minded individuals located on the Westshore as well as in Victoria and surrounding municipalities. VCARE has sent letters to the City of Langford, created online and physical petitions, sent letters to the Luxton Pro Rodeo, run strategic ads in local papers, contacted 2013 sponsors as well as continued to educate the public.
We remain a local Westshore based and run group. As a grassroots organization trying to make change in our community we rely on donations to run ads and social media to connect with our supporters. Our campaign and/or goals have been supported by the following groups and people :

- Dr. Nick Shaw – Shaw Pet and Equine Hospitals
- Pamela Anderson – animal activist
